Date:
10 Dec 2009
Time:
12:30 to 18:00
Location:
SenterNovem, Juliana van Stolberglaan 3, The Hague

In the Netherlands, Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS, in Dutch 'HBO') play an important role in translating new scientific knowledge to its application in professional practice. The meeting "On science and professional practice: Where education and knowledge meet" brings together representatives of UAS and of 37 Dutch 'BSIK' research programmes, including the NBIC BioRange programme, to exchange information on how these programmes can contribute to education and applied research at UAS and vice versa, how research programmes can benefit from UAS' knowledge on the professional practice.

The meeting is hosted by SenterNovem (part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs) and the 'HBO Raad', the Dutch organisation of UAS. On behalf of BioRange, Celia van Gelder, project leader education at NBIC, is part of the organising committee and she will present an update and results of the NBIC's activities in collaborating with Dutch UAS on, among others, setting up a network of teachers and organising teacher training sessions. In addition, there will be a BioRange booth at the conference exhibition.

Please note that the official language during the meeting will be Dutch.
