Award Ceremony Designers & Artists Award Genomics 4 (DA4GA)

On December 8, 2010 the winners of the Designers & Artists Award Genomics 4 (DA4GA) will be presented by Robert Dijkgraaf. DA4GA is the contest where art, design and life sciences meet.

DA4GA aims to promote Bio Art and make visible the significance and diversity of Genomics Research. Bio Art is an art practice in which the medium is living matter and the works of art are produced in laboratories and/or artists’ studios. Designers and artists have collaborated with various Genomics Centres to develop in total nine project proposals rated by a prominent jury from the arts, design and sciences: Robbert Dijkgraaf, Francine Houben, Geert Verbeke, Hub Zwart and Paul Voogt.

Three winning proposals will be awarded with € 25,000, to be spend on its realization. The results will be exhibited at Naturalis in 2011.

Hienke Sminia (NBIC, bioinformatics@school) together with the artists Bas Kools and Gunter Wehmeyer are participating in this contest on behalf of NBIC.
