NBIC HotTopics meeting: Gene regulatory interaction networks

NBIC
Date:
12 Jul 2011
Time:
12:30 to 17:00
Location:
Hogeschool Domstad, Utrecht

The field of molecular biology is facing the challenge to bridge the data-knowledge gap. Clearly, the current data deluge is not automatically leading to new biological insight. Therefore it becomes unarguably clear that computational methods will be required to piece together the biological principles that underlie these enormous amounts of data.

During this HotTopics meeting we will elaborate on the use of methods to elucidate and predict (gene) regulatory interactions from large biomolecular datasets, with special focus on recent novel biomolecular data types and ways of integrating them. Of particular interest are methods that employ a module based approach, i.e. summarization of data into modules and application of interaction inference between and within these modules.

Keywords: regulatory interaction, networks, modules, high-throughput data

NBIC HotTopics are a new series of NBIC meetings committed to bringing scientists together to discuss the concepts and methods on a hot topic in their research field. It should provide a platform to keep in touch with peers in the field and foster sharing of new insights, applications and collaborations. Therefore, the aim of the meeting is not to present the latest results of your own work, but rather to identify new trends and breakthroughs in the field in general.
