Bioinformatics in public

The bionformatics@school project not only visits schools and trains teachers; it also promotes bioinformatics to the general public. September 28, for instance, Hienke Sminia (NBIC) and Punto Bawono (VU) were at the Discovery Festival in Amsterdam (NEMO) to show how proteins can be folded and how multiple sequence alignments can be constructed, using citizen science games as Fold.it and Phylo.

Coming weekend on Saturday 13^th Hienke will demonstrate bioinformatics at the Kunstnacht in Nijmegen. An ideal opportunity to show your friends and family how interesting your job is.
