Life Sciences Momentum 2009 will offer insight into the latest developments in science and technology, the state of affairs within Dutch academia and industry, and the emerging opportunities for society and business. Life Sciences Momentum 2009 will focus on four key topics: discover opportunities, build on strength, encourage continuity and share responsibility.
This year's Momentum promises to be the best year yet, as the event will cover the entire Life Sciences field. NGI expects a record number of guests from industry, science, government, healthcare, civil society organisations, education, finance, politics and media.
Why Momentum 2009? The first and foremost purpose of the annual Momentum events is to offer a platform on which the Netherlands' Life Sciences sector has the chance to take stock of the current situation, look at best practices, and make plans to move forward. All the Netherlands' major players will be there to address these and any other topics. Through workshops, speeches, interactive sessions and the networking Plaza, you can find out just what's going on, and get advice on how to move forward in this exciting and highly promising field of science.
Life Sciences Momentum 2009 is organized by the Netherlands Genomics Initiative.

The last two years the Regional Student Group has been organizing BioCafe's. These events are a nice opportunity to hear more from other research fields, to improve your "soft skills" like presenting your work, and to get in touch with other PhD students in the Netherlands.
The topic of the next BioCafe is: Visualize your science! For the first time the RSG invited an international speaker: Nils Gehlenborg from the EBI will discuss his work on visualizing large microarray datasets. The second speaker is Michel Westenberg from Eindhoven University of Technology, and will reveal to us the visualization of biological networks.
This Biocafé will be concluded with a visualization Quickfire during which each participant will have the opportunity to show his/her favorite/coolest/best image. You will have 30 seconds to explain why, what and how you made the image.
Registration for this event is required, so please send an e-mail to rsg-netherlands@removethis.iscbsc.org with your name, institute and whether you want come and eat dinner after the BioCafe. If you want to show your work, you can also send in 1 ppt-slide containing the image and your name.
Where: Poort van Kleef, (second floor of Café Carré), Mariaplaats 7, Utrecht

This 2-day conference provides an overview of the current options of next-generation sequencing platforms, technologies, applications and the newest computational tools for the analysis of next-generation sequencing data. The congress is held in conjunction with qPCR Congress, and is organised by Oxford Global Conferences.

Next-generation sequencing technologies are revolutionizing biology by allowing for genome-wide transcription factor binding-site profiling, transcriptome sequencing, and more recently, whole-genome resequencing. These technologies will provide a genome-wide sequence readout as an endpoint to applications ranging from chromatin immunoprecipitation, mutation mapping and polymorphism discovery to noncoding RNA discovery.
The event will attract over 120 senior-level decision makers working in bioinformatics & data management, next generation sequencing, discovery, RNA profiling, molecular genomics, and clinical & diagnostics development from the UK, Europe and US. This prestigious event provides a forum for practitioners and researchers to learn more about key solutions being provided to their industry, network with their peers, and address key industry concerns through a series of cutting edge conference presentations in a professional yet relaxed environment.
Over two days, the two events will attract over 120 senior-level decision makers working in discovery, gene expression, molecular biology, clinical development and data management from the Europe's leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies, academic and research institutions. In keeping with Oxford Global's highly successful life sciences series, an expert panel of 45 speakers will present a full conference programme covering the following topics: NGS in High Throughput Sequencing Platforms, Applying NGS to Genomic and Genetic Research and Data Analysis/Strategies/Management.
There will be a series of partnering sessions, where it will be possible to meet with a select number of vendor companies. There are also a number of social, networking activities at which it will be possible to forge new and strengthen existing relationships with other delegates.
