Principal Research
Bas van Breukelen studied Bioprocess Engineering at Wageningen University and received his PhD from the University of Utrecht in 2003 where he studied the role of the Adenovirus DNA binding protein in DNA replication and recombination. After his PhD he did a postdoc at the department of Biology where he set up the bioinformatics infrastructure for the analysis and data storage of the Complete Arabidopsis Transcriptome Microarray (CATMA chip). In 2005 he moved to the Netherlands Proteomics Centre where he started his own bioinformatics research group. Currently his research is focused on (pre) processing of mass spectrometry data as well as implementing a generic pipeline for proteomics data analysis and storage. In 2007 he was involved in setting up a joint NPC/NBIC programme, funded by the NGI, to strengthen the field of bioinformatics for proteomics.
