Description
Recent developments on the foundations of probability have lead to a theory that unites methods from statistics, statistical inference, information theory and Bayesian statistics into an integrated framework. The purpose of this course is to familiarize bioinformatics students with this general theory in the context of concrete applications in Bioinformatics. The course will cover all the basic theoretical methods and illustrate each of them with examples from the day-to-day praxis in Bioinformatics.
Requirements:
Unix commands, experience with programming in basic scripting languages; solid knowledge in applied mathematics, i.e. calculus and linear algebra.
