Principal Research
Jelle Goeman (born Leiderdorp, The Netherlands in 1976, PhD in 2006 at Leiden University Medical Center, in The Netherlands) is a mathematician and statistician who is interested in statistical aspects of bioinformatics. He is interested in gene set testing, in multiple testing and in prediction and classification methodology. He has authored several R packages, among which are the penalized and globaltest packages.
Since 2008 he has been Associate Professor of Statistical Bioinformatics at the Department of Medical Statistics and Bioinformatics at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC). He coordinates the Bioinformatics Center of Expertise at LUMC which helps streamline consulting in bioinformatics at LUMC. Goeman published over 20 peer-reviewed articles and is a regular invited speaker at international conferences.
