Principal Research

Margriet Hendriks (Nijmegen, The Netherlands, 1965) studied chemistry at Nijmegen University and obtained her PhD at Groningen Univesity in 1965. The subject of her thesis was related to chemometrics. After her PhD she started working at what is now Biometris (Wageningen University and Research Centre) and turning more into biostatistics. Special interest has always been analytical chemistry and later metabolomics. In 2004 she started as a researcher in a project at the Wilhelmina Kinderziekenhuis. The aim was to establish a metabolomics centre at the University Medical Centre Utrecht, in collaboration with Utrecht University. In 2008 she became an assistant professor in the department of metabolic and endocrine diseases of UMCU. Her main research objective relates to the development of biostatistical methods for metabolomics studies. She is also involved in the Netherlands Metabolomics Centre, primarily in projects on biostatistics, and she is the theme leader for the NMC data support platform, a bioinformatics platform developed in collaboration with NBIC.
