A new model to study the human gut bacterial metabolism of starch
09 Sep 2011
Hans van Beek (VU) and Jaap Heringa (VU), both NBIC Faculty members, developed a new model of human faecal microbiota. In their paper in Benef Microbes they explore human gut bacterial metabolism of starch using a combined analytical and computational modelling approach for metabolite and flux analysis.
The work was accomplished in close collaboration with Albert de Graaf (TNO) who provided the experimental data and microbial metabolism expertise.
