Christian Gilissen wins NBIC Award

The winner of the NBIC Young Investigator Award 2012 is Dr. Christian Gilissen, UMC St Radboud, Nijmegen. He is awarded with a cash prize of 2.500 Euro funded by NBIC BioRange and BioWise programmes.
Christian Gilissen has received the NBIC Young Investigator Award 2012 for his PhD research. His PhD thesis shows how development and application of bioinformatics strategies can significantly boost disease gene identification and clinical diagnostics.
The jury, chaired by Marcel Reinders (scientific director NBIC), was further impressed by the remarkable large number of high impact papers, which represent the impact of his work for the scientific and medical applications of next generation sequencing technology.
The award ceremony took place on the NBIC Conference (April 25th, 2012) and was followed by a honorary lecture by Christian Gilissen about “Disease gene identification through Next Generation Sequencing”.
