CCGrid-Health 2010
- Date:
- 17 May 2010 to 20 May 2010
- Location:
- Melbourne, Australia
Grids are becoming increasingly popular for HealthCare applications including medical imaging, bioinformatics and drug discovery. Although extensive research effort is being carried out in the area of grids and distributed systems, current HealthGrid developers often rely on ad-hoc developments, sometimes ignoring elaborated solutions that may help solving their issues in a more elegant way. At the same time, many research works remain hardly applicable to HealthGrid applications due to unrealistic assumptions. HealthCare applications currently offer complete use-cases for data and computing grids involving not only performance concerns but also data management, security, reliability and user-friendliness.
This workshop aims at reserving room for discussion about the challenges for the construction and deployment of grids in Healthcare within CCGrid, offering a contact opportunity between HealthGrid application developers and contributing to reduce the gap between the research and production grid communities. The workshop has the goals of obtaining an overview of ongoing efforts in health-related grid applications; obtaining an overview of challenges (technologies, achievements, gaps, roadblocks); and identifying common requirements to lead to future developments in collaboration between Health and Computing Sciences.
The workshop will be collocated with CCGrid 2010, the 10th IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Cluster, Cloud and Grid Computing to take place in May 17-20, 2010, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
The presented papers will appear in the CCGrid'2010 proceedings.
