Abstract
Natural killer cells play an important role in the immune system. These cells recognise infected cells using their external inhibiting and activating receptors. Next to gaining more insight in the network of receptors and their ligands, the research will also study how the system develops (co-evolution) in relation to the evolution of pathogens. Ultimately, a mathematical model will clarify the role of the activating receptors.
