Task Forces
The BioAssist programme has set up a number of Task Forces to address recurring tasks in the field of bioinformatics. In these task forces academic groups that are working on similar bioinformatics problems collaborate to make sure that they cover an entire interest field without duplication and to standardize on the way the tools interact.
Currently, task forces exist for collaboration on:
- Genomics, focussing on tools for next generation sequencing
- Proteomics
- Metabolomics and Nutrigenomics, standardizing information about studies and building query tools.
- Biobanking
- Biological interpretation, working on data interoperability
Each of the task forces has a scientific leader from one of the academic groups who is responsible for the academic output, and a dedicated project leader from the BioAssist Engineering Team responsible for the day to day collaboration in the task force.
