Interoperability Task Force

The interoperability task force has been initially an effort of the engineering team itself, but is now being set up as a separate task force. The principle investigator is Christine Chichester.

The goal of the interoperability task force is to ensure the interoperability of data obtained from multiple different methods, and to develop techniques to perform knowledge discovery based on all the information put together. Instituting a process that allows for both standardization and variability is a key challenge facing fields which have diverse information content with domain-specific vocabularies.

The interoperability problems encountered by biologists are very similar to problems encountered by scientists outside of the life sciences. For this reason, the work of the  task force will benefit from the much larger collaboration of the Concept Web Alliance.

The efforts of the interoperability task force are lead by Christine Chichester, Chief Information Officer of BioAssist.

More information on the current activities can be found on the NBIC Wiki pages of the task force.

What can the Task Force do for you?

The interoperability task force members meet once per month. You are welcome to join these meetings. For any questions regarding (semantic) interoperability in the life sciences, feel free to contact Christine Chichester.
