Workshop Quality of software code

In this workshop we will try to answer what quality of software is and how it can be measured.  We will focus on a few aspects and concepts that will be beneficial to a bioinformatician who writes software alone, or in a team. Practical issues and examples will be discussed and feedback from the audience is encouraged. The emphasis will be on attributes of code, rather than running programs. We will try to say something about good programming without actually executing the code.

The issues that we will be dealing with are the following:

What makes up quality software? How can you reduce the complexity of a software program? How do you measure complexity? What tools can help you to improve your code and how do they work?
