Principal Research
Perry Moerland received his MSc degree in computer science from the Eindhoven University of Technology. In 2000 he received his PhD in computer science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne where he worked on machine learning and artificial intelligence. He joined the Bioinformatics Laboratory of the Academic Medical Center in 2002 where he currently holds an assistant professorship and is head of the Systems Genomics group. His research interests are the analysis of high-throughput data and the development of computational methods to uncover molecular networks perturbed by disease. His group focuses on the development of network-based methods for the analysis of gene expression data across different tissues and different organisms. He actively contributes to the Netherlands Bioinformatics Centre, as a project leader (BioRange, Systems Bioinformatics), lecturer (BioWise/NBIC PhD School, Pattern Recognition), and as a member of the Proteomics Task Force (BioAssist).
